A Day at the Zoo with Grandpa

This past weekend my mom and her sisters and my uncles went up to the UP for a mini vacation. My dad had been fishing for the week in Canada and didn't make it back before they left. On Sunday, Carl went with some fellow residents and an attending the the Lions' football game in Detroit. So that left me, Ellie, Ezra, and my dad with nothing to do on beautiful Sunday afternoon. I packed up the kiddos after church and we headed down to Battle Creek to kidnap my dad and go to the Zoo. After finally catching up with him (we just missed each other at his church) we had lunch at their house and headed to the Zoo for a fun day filled with popcorn, pop, feeding giraffes, an ice cream cone, a carousel ride (on the baby elephant, of course) and face painting!

Ellie having a BLAST feeding the giraffes!

The sweet little new baby boy...Gesi!

Ellie also had to get her face painted again

When she saw herself in the mirror she smiled and did a cute, soft "roar"

"Tickle, tickle, tickle. Down, down down. Don't cry Ezra, your friends are coming back soon. Ezra don't cry. Lemme go get your toys."

Playing outside

Fascinated with her shadow

Ellie wasn't so sure she wanted to share her swing with Ezra...even though she hasn't used the baby swing in months! She thought it was okay after I let her push him. But as soon as he came out she said "now my turn".

Ellie's First MSU Football Game

On September 12 we took Ellie to the MSU vs CMU football game (my mom came up to watch Ezra). We met our good friends there (it was Carson's first football game too). We all had a great time and Ellie and Carson both enjoyed the game...as much as a 2-year old and an 18-month old could. Ellie loved it when the band played and when the players ran out on the field after halftime. We ended up losing the game but that's alright...it's all about the experience.

September Part 2

Nana Trott brought Play-Doh for Ellie when they were here visiting this past July. We try to play with it once a week which makes my little girl VERY happy!

I think I'll just lay down here...

Ellie watched her first princess movie, Cinderella. She was instantly captivated by...the mice. Not so much Cinderella...but Gus-Gus and Jaq. Now she loves Cinderella too. She recently received a princess puzzle from some family friends and upon completion she likes to say "I put Cinderelie back together again".

Nothing smells better than a freshly bathed baby.

September Part 1

Ezra had his 2 month check on the 9th. He weighed in at 13lbs and is 23 3/4 inches tall (both at 75%). His head is 16 1/2 inches and is at 90%!

Ellie loves giving him hugs and will capitalize on ANY opportunity to give him a squeeze. She will walk up to him, open his arms and say "hug Ezra, squeeze"...it's so cute! He just adores her. He follows her throughout a room and she can always make him smile.

On afternoon Ezra was a little upset that Ellie got to go to bed first. I put him down on his changing pad in the living room and put Ellie to bed...he cried briefly and when I returned he decided he would just sleep there. I changed his mind by bundling him up in his favorite Swaddler Sleep Sac and put him to bed in his bassinet.

I happened to stumble upon Ellie talking through the Detroit Zoo again.
